For nearly two decades now, Cardservice has been proudly offering merchant accounts and related services to the business community. At that time the credit card processing industry had been overwhelmed with shady salesmen who were only interested in making a quick buck. This was giving the whole processing industry a black eye. Chuck decided it was time to do something about this problem and started Cardservice International.
The beginnings were humble. Originally, Chuck operated Cardservice out of his living room. However, the growth soon took off as the company was filling a much needed void in the industry. It quickly grew into one of the largest privately held merchant account providers in the industry.
In 1994 Chuck's son, John Burtzloff went to work for Cardservice in the check guarantee department. It wasn't long before his talents were put to better use as the Executive Vice President of Sales. Under John's leadership the company had explosive growth and great expansion. Today it has approximately 2,900 registered sales representatives spread throughout the country. In addition, approximately 170,000 merchants trust Cardservice International to process $12 billion in annual credit and debit volume.
The company was awarded the credit card processing industries highest award "Acquirer of the Decade"... winning this award was a resounding validation of Chuck's decade old vision of providing outstanding customer service to each merchant.
Cardservice specializes in setting-up small businesses to accept and process credit cards. In the past, banks wouldn't even consider a merchant unless they had been in business for at least two years. Cardservice International has filled this void by approving all different types of merchants including those with no credit or bad credit.
Since the evolution of the Internet, Cardservice has been on the cutting edge of helping small businesses obtain an Internet merchant account. It pioneered the online application that allows Internet merchants to apply in real time and find out immediately if they have been approved. Many credit card processors advertise that they offer instant approvals but in reality they just capture your information and hand enter the data at a later time.
Cardservice also developed the First Data ® Global Secure Payment Gateway. Merchants can integrate this online payment gateway into their site either through simple HTML scripts or through an API. First Data ® Global Central allows merchants to log into a secure website and run their
transactions through a virtual terminal. This way merchant's can accept credit cards automatically through their website or manually through a virtual terminal.
