Mail and Phone order Merchant Account
Our Mail/Telephone Merchant Account is designed for merchants who take their customers credit card information over the phone or receive their information through the mail. These merchants never physically are able to take their customer's card in order to swipe the card through a machine.
The most cost efficient way for mail/telephone order merchants to accept credit cards is with an internet merchant account. With this account merchants' receive a virtual terminal that enables them to do credit card processing anywhere they have an internet connection. All the merchant has to do is log into our secure site and enter their customer's credit card information. The transaction is then run in real-time for an approval or decline. It is that simple.
By using a virtual terminal merchants can save on up front costs. Many startup businesses are strapped for cash and are looking for ways to save money. Our internet merchant account has no application or setup fees and there is no equipment to buy. The only costs are the monthly costs associated with the merchant account.
With an internet merchant account the discount rate is slightly higher than a retail merchant account due to the increased risk for fraud that is incurred by the credit card processing company. Whenever the card is not present when a transaction is being processed there is greater risk that the transaction can be charged back or even fraudulent.
Even with the low cost of an internet merchant account, some mail and telephone order merchants will still want to purchase a credit card machine to do their credit card processing. Both the LinkPoint 9100 GPRS and the Verifone 8020 GPRS have a built in PinPad so a merchant who chooses debit card services can accept debit cards from their customers. This helps save businesses money as the processing costs associated with debit cards is usually much cheaper than those associated with accepting credit cards.
One of the great features of the wireless credit card machines is that they help businesses prevent chargebacks. Because the transaction has taken place where the customer swiped the card and actually signed the receipt there is much less of a chance that they will try to chargeback the transaction. In addition, if the merchant does try to chargeback the transaction the merchant has a much better chance of beating the chargeback due to the signed receipt.
